Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.- Albert Camus
Fall is my favorite time of year. I am lucky to live in a part of the country that has four seasons. The warm Indian summer leading to the crisp autumn days. It does feel like a second spring because everything reminds me of new beginnings. School, pumpkin lattes, scarves, boots, leaves changing colors, Halloween, Thanksgiving, cider mills, sweaters, fuzzy socks, but I could go on forever. My absolute favorite thing is the way a clear fall day smells.
I know it is crazy to be thinking about autumn when temperatures are above 90 degrees and the humidity feels like a sub tropical rain forest. With all the “Back to School Sales”, I get excited about shopping for additions to my autumn wardrobe. When purchasing clothes and accessories, I may not be able to wear everything all year around but I try to look for things that transition between fall to winter and spring to summer.
While I do like to invest in a nice designer handbag, which will hopefully last my entire life, I try to look for pieces that are both fashionable and affordable. I have also grown to love my curves and look for items that flatter my figure and personal style. Trendy items can be nice but will you wear them again? Will they be wearable the next season or next year? Do they fit with your existing wardrobe? Also what is missing from my wardrobe? Let’s get Started!
Here some items that I will be looking to add to my fall wardrobe
The Shootie
Vince Camuto “Jody” Low-Shaft Suede Bootie $99.00
I finally had to give up on my perfect black booties. It was their time. It frustrated me that I could not find some to replace them until I found these ones. These are the perfect combination of a boot and a shoe. I will wear it with dresses, leggings, and jeans. It is a must have for anyone’s wardrobe.
The Romantic Blouse
SIMPLY BE BOHO LACE TRIM BLOUSE $74.99
One of the trends this fall is the romantic mixed with the edgy. This blouse will go well with leggings, jeans, or a pencil skirt. Mix it with some edgy accessories, leather or black lace to keep it fresh and modern. I purchased a pair of black leather leggings last year and was not sure what to wear with them. This will be the perfect top to achieve that “rock & roll sweetheart” look.
Statement Jacket/Coat
COLLARLESS FAUX FUR POCKET COAT $97.5o
I fell in love with this coat when I saw it on Simply Be. It combines two Fall trends, faux fur and the open coat, beautifully. I think this would be a great alternative to my long heavy wool coats for dressy occasions and would also look great on casual days with jeans and high knee boots.
Military Jacket
Classic Utility Jacket $44.95
This classic utility jacket from Just Fab is exactly what I am looking for this fall. It has the military vibe and is a pretty dark olive color. The drawstring waist is a great way to emphasize my waist and hourglass figure.
Velvet
Women’s Journee Collection Harlo Mary Jane Faux Suede Pumps $44.99
Velvet seems to be everywhere for the Fall trend of opulence and romantic fabrics. I am not ready to dive into the deep end of purchasing a velvet top or bottom but maybe some shoes. When I saw a this pair of shoes at Target, they reminded me of a more expensive pair of deep red velvet Mary Jane shoes I saw in a magazine. I love to find a less expensive version of a style. These heels may be suede but they are a great alternative.
Plaid
Kate & Mallory® High Density Knit Two-Pocket Pull-on Leggings $46.50
I was looking for a cute plaid skirt for the autumn months. Plaid seems to be the soul mate for autumn. During my searches, I found these cute plaid leggings. They are a little out of my comfort zone of plain old black, but I am trying to push myself in my life and wardrobe. These leggings would look so cute with a white blouse and a pair of menswear inspired shoes or with a motorcycle jacket and some cute booties. Maybe even my new shooties. (I must admit that I love these leggings so much, I may need to get other colors.)
Choker
MISSY LEATHER SELF TIE CHOKER $16.00
I want a choker but I always shy away because I am self conscious of my neck size. I feel like some chokers emphasize it. This choker is just right. It allows me to wear a choker necklace but brings the attention down to the chest.
I hope you enjoyed reading about my Fall clothing wish list. What is on your Fall wish list?
